Rufus Reade: afloat in the Dead Sea, walking in the Greater Caucasus, and in Bhutan.
Rufus Reade leads all the tours he organises, often in the company of a guest specialist. Rufus was born in Kenya, and was then brought up in colonial era Cyprus (speaking Greek and English), before moving to Jersey where he went to school as a teenager. A degree in Sociology at Manchester University was followed by training as a social worker at the University of Surrey. As well as working as a social worker, he has been a postman, and a college lecturer. In 1983 he set up Out of the Nomads Tent (now trading as The Nomads Tent under the leadership of the new owner, Andrew Haughton), dealing in oriental rugs, tribal artefacts and other imports from Turkey, Iran and India. He has been organising and leading tours since 1987.
